Douglas Sherman is a financial executive who has been involved within the energy industry for the past 25 years as a lender and more recently as a commodity markets professional. At Freepoint Commodities, a physical-commodity merchant, based in Stamford, CT, Doug originated structured financings across all commodities including oil, natural gas and power. Prior to Freepoint, Doug spent 6 years at Deutsche Bank serving as a Director within a CLO-backed lending team and as a member of the commodities team. As part of the commodities group, Doug was responsible for structured commodity financings for financial sponsors and corporations, sold traditional commodity derivative products and worked alongside the investment banking teams in deploying commodity products within acquisition and corporate financings. From 1992-2007, Doug was involved in various roles within the power sector and the project finance industry. While at Credit Lyonnais, ABB, GE Capital and Beal Bank, Doug participated in the financings of over $5 billion in financings for power projects within the US and overseas. Within the power sector, Doug worked on gas-fired cogeneration projects, coal-fired projects, geothermal projects, distributed generation projects and inside-the-fence industrial projects.
Doug has an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and a BSEE from Union College in Schenectady, NY.
